Tuesday: Meeting Shifts into High Gear

Tuesday’s program is packed with outstanding science from sun up to sun down, and owing to several concurrent sessions, is sure to have something for everyone.

The day starts with the Sunrise Mini-Course on microRNAs (see separate blog article), followed by a special lecture by Dr. Wladimir Wertelecki, speaking on the effects of nuclear disasters on congenital malformations.

The Teratology Society and NBTS then join forces to present a special lecture by Dr. Cheryl Boyce from the National Institute of Drug Abuse, entitled Addiction: A Developmental Disorder, to be immediately followed by a symposium the developmental effects of prenatal methamphetamine exposure. This symposium will cover the topic from the clinical, preclinical and translation perspectives.

There also will be a symposium entitled: “Developmental Exposures and Effects on Adult Reproductive Function” which will span basic aspects of reproductive system development, to gene-environment interactions, ending with a talk on European secular trends in the timing of puberty onset.

Throughout the day there will also be a series of oral platform presentations, one session focusing on hazard assessment studies, and the other a TS/OTIS joint session focused on pregnancy outcomes - from basic science to clinical practice.

And if that is not enough, we also will be holding our first ever Pharmaceutical Workshop Series, a set of four consecutive, highly focused workshops on topics related to pharmaceutical safety during pregnancy. The four workshop topics are: Testicular Biomarkers, Placental Transfer of Monoclonal Antibodies, Progression into Clinical Trials with Women of Child Bearing Age, and Postmarketing Surveillance and Labeling - all hot topics for sure!
