Announcing the 2020 BDRP Election Results

The results of the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention’s 2020 election are in!

Four outstanding candidates ran for two open positions on Council. I am pleased to announce the results:

  • Vice President-Elect: Bruce Beyer
  • Councilor: Joshua Robinson

Please join me in congratulating our new Officers. I also wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wafa Harrouk and Louise Winn. We are very grateful for their hard work on behalf of our Society and their willingness to run for elected office. We look forward to their continued involvement and leadership in the Society.

Thank you to all voting members who took the time to review the ballot materials and cast their votes this year. Thank you also to the volunteers on our Nominations and Elections Committee, chaired by Chris Lau, for their important work contributing to this year’s ballot.

I look forward to connecting with you during our virtual and historic 60th Annual Meeting this June and July. If you have not already done so, please register soon. The Program Committee, chaired by Elise Madison Lewis, has put together an outstanding program, including a special pre-meeting session on COVID-19 and Pregnancy, featuring Dr. Sonja Rasmussen and Dr. Christina Chambers, on June 11. The bulk of the meeting program will take place June 25-July 2 and will include keynote speaker Dr. Diana Bianchi, NICHD Director; and Dr. Linda Birnbaum, the recently retired NIEHS Director, will deliver the Warkany Lecture. Additionally, the meeting will include seven scientific symposia, six platform sessions, and attended poster sessions. Our virtual meeting will also include two special virtual social events for attendees to catch up and network with friends and colleagues.

The Education Committee, chaired by Caren Villano, has developed three informative Education Courses pertaining to immune system development, juvenile toxicology, and ovarian assessment. The Education Courses will take place on Thursdays throughout the month of July.
