BDRP 61st Annual Meeting – Social Events and Networking Preview


In addition to a robust scientific program, the BDRP 61st Annual Meeting meeting includes the following social and networking opportunities. The events below may be entered via the Session tab in the Attendee Hub. You can you build your own schedule and add events to your personal calendar. Make sure to turn on your webcam for these special events! Feel free to download one of our three BDRP virtual backgrounds (1, 2, 3) if you would like.

President’s Welcome Social

Thursday, June 24, 4:00-5:00 pm EDT

BDRP President Elise Madison Lewis will welcome you all to the 61st Annual Meeting, and attendees will move through small groups to catch up and make plans to connect (see Appointment Scheduling below).


Weekdays June 25-July 1, 30 minutes, start times vary

Microcommunities are daily small group sessions for networking and discussion about science, careers, and other topics of interest. These sessions will only appear in the Session list in the Attendee Hub if you pre-registered for a microcommunity. If you do not see them in the Session list and wish to join a microcommunity, please contact

Poster Sessions

June 28, 29, 30, 3:30-4:30 pm EDT

Each poster presenter has been assigned to a Poster Session. During this time they will be available to meet with attendees via video conference. To make the most of  limited time, make sure to review posters ahead of time. Attendees can also message poster authors at any time while the Attendee Hub is open with questions or comments on posters. 

Trivia Night Social

Monday, June 28, 7:00-9:00 pm EDT

Come test your knowledge of topics such as BDRP history, pop culture, and food, all while networking and having fun with your colleagues. Hosted by the Student Affairs Committee, attention will be paid to ensuring teams are made up of a mix of trainees/early career investigators and more experienced researchers/mentors. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, and the games will be followed by an optional happy hour just for socializing! Download a recipe for a cocktail or mocktail in advance if you'd like. Space is limited to the first 200 meeting attendees who add this event to their agenda within the Attendee Hub.

New and Prospective Member Meet and Greet

Tuesday, June 29, 10:00-10:45 am EDT

New members and attendees interested in joining BDRP are encouraged to attend a Meet and Greet hosted by the Membership Committee to network and learn more about the Society and ways to get involved.

Warkany Tea

Wednesday, June 30, 12:00-12:30 pm EDT

Break out your favorite mug as we gather to celebrate a Society tradition that honors one of our founders, Josef Warkany.

40th Annual Volleyball NETworking Event

Wednesday, June 30, 4:30-5:30 pm EDT

This event is a creative twist on the Society’s Annual Volleyball Game, now in its 40th year! The organizers have created a special invitation available here.

Appointment Scheduling

While the attendee hub is open, you may schedule appointments with fellow attendees (either 1:1 or small groups) through the Attendee Hub. Attendees, particularly trainees and early career investigators, are encouraged to request video appointments with BDRP Ambassadors (enter BDRP Ambassador into the search filter in the Attendee List). BDRP members pride themselves on holding a friendly and supportive annual meeting and are happy to meet with and support others in any way they can, so don’t hold back!

Treasure Hunt

Earn points for actively participating in sessions and events as well as networking, and climb the leaderboard. The Treasure Hunt is open through July 2, and attendees occupying the top three spots on the leaderboard will win special prizes!
