The Public Affairs Committee in conjunction with the March of Dimes organized a symposium in Baltimore, Maryland in June 2012, entitled "Vitamin D Deficiency in Pregnancy and Neonatal Development."
The presentations during the symposium provided a review and opportunity to discuss the role of Vitamin D in pregnancy, development, adulthood and in disease prevention and to review the science supporting the RDA recommendations from the Institute of Medicine for dietary
allowance of Vitamin D.
Following the session Janet Uriu-Adams, Sarah Obican, and Carl Keen prepared a manuscript summarizing the outcome which was published in Birth Defects Research (Part C), 99:24–44, 2013. Members who subscribe to BDR may access the full article online.
