What is your dream for the future of the Teratology Society?
Where were you five years ago and where would you like to be at the end of the next five years? These types of questions lend themselves to a multitude of variable answers. In some cases the responses are a result of contemplative thoughts while in other cases a result of dreaming.
Now is the time for the Society to contemplate and dream about where we have been as a Society and where we would like to go. In April, a session to review and develop the strategic plan for the course of the next five years will be held in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico. A significant amount of preparation will take place before and subsequent to the session in April. Your input and participation throughout the process is critical. If you have not already responded to the on-line member survey, please do prior to March 20, 2012.
Be a part of the 52nd Annual Meeting!, which will be held June 23-27 in Baltimore, Maryland! Many of you have already submitted your abstracts for presentation, thank you. If you have research to present, please consider submitting a late-breaking abstract by the June 4 deadline. The instructions to submit are located at http://teratology.org/meetings/2012/ab_su.asp.
This event is approved for up to 27 credits by the Office for Continuing Health Professional Education (CHPE). The Office for CHPE, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools. This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Through a reciprocal agreement between the American Medical Association and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Office for CHPE, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University designates this activity for AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s) up to the maximum number of credit hours noted above. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent at the educational activity.

Silent Auction to Support Trainee Activities
Many of you have provided popular items for the Silent Auction. If you have an item that you would like to donate, please contact the business office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Perhaps you would like to donate a weekend at your rental property, a piece of art, or a basket of goodies. Maybe you have a service or product that you would like to include; all contributions are welcomed.
The proceeds from the auction help to support expanded programs and activities for the trainees attending the next year’s meeting. In 2012, we are able to provide breakfast for the participants of the Dine with a Teratology Ambassador program as well as the Saturday Mixer.
What’s Hot in Tucson?
What science would you like to see presented during the annual meeting? Well, believe it or not, proposals for scientific sessions for the 2013 meeting in Tucson, Arizona are being accepted until April 25. The 2013 meeting will be held June 22-26 at the ever-popular Loews Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona. Making a Difference
Members of the Teratology Society make a difference each day in many ways. After all, we don’t all look at birth defects the same way – some of us are involved in diagnosing them, caring for the children affected with them and educating the families dealing with them; some of us are interested in trying to find out what caused the defect and how these defects could be prevented in the future. As a Society we greatly benefit from our multidisciplinary nature. Join a committee and increase your success in reaching your own personal goals and meeting other members from other segments of our unique community of scientists.
