Josef Warkany Lecture Presented on Sunday

The Josef Warkany Lecture will be presented Sunday at 8:45 am. This lecture honors Josef Warkany’s contributions to the Teratology Society. Dr. Warkany was the first person to demonstrate that exposures to environmental chemicals are responsible for production of congenital malformation. His early studies culminated in the formulation of the scientific principles of teratology. This lecture recognizes a scientist who has significantly contributed to the field of teratology over his/her career.

This year’s lecture, entitled “An Epidemiological Enterprise: from Fluoride to Folate”, will be presented by J. David Erickson.  Dr. Erickson held a long and distinguished career as an epidemiologist at the US Centers for Disease Control, and was engaged in critical studies on the teratological effects of drinking water fluoridation, as well as folic acid supplementation.
