In light of the current status of the global pandemic and after thoughtful discussions with our Council members and your feedback from the recent member survey, the 61st Annual Meeting for the Society of Birth Defects Research and Prevention will be a fully online, virtual experience that will take place during weekdays from June 24 to July 1, 2021, with the Education Courses taking place later in July. We believe this is the safest approach for the well-being of our members and speakers, and we are excited that we can build on the successes and lessons learned through our impactful 2020 virtual meeting.
With this decision made, the Program Committee is moving ahead to finalize the program. This years’ virtual meeting will offer a more robust scientific agenda highlighting how we use our multidisciplinary science to build bridges in birth defects research and prevention from innovation to application. Networking is a cornerstone of our annual event, and this year attendees will have more opportunities to partake in interactive and engaging experiences through a dynamic virtual platform, all while connecting from the comfort and safety of your home or office. In addition, our trainees and early career professions will have an opportunity to learn more about our Society through mentorship.
We have altered our traditional timelines to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to prepare for our virtual meeting. The abstract deadline is March 31, and the Early Bird Registration deadline is April 15. Similar to the Virtual 60th Annual Meeting, the scientific content will be available on demand after the conclusion of the meeting. Additional details will be shared with membership as they become available. In the interim, please mark your calendars.
We thank you for your continued support and participation as a valued member of our Society.
With warm regards,
Elise Madison Lewis, PhD, President
