National Center for Toxicological Research Division of Genetic and Molecular Toxicology - Postdoctoral Fellow Position, Jefferson, Arkansas

A postdoctoral fellow position is available for a scientist (less than 5 years after obtaining PhD degree, residing in USA for at least 3 years during the last 5 years) with research interest and/or experience in toxicology. The position is located at the Division of Genetic and Molecular Toxicology, National Center for Toxicological Research/FDA, in Jefferson, AR. The applicant will primarily focus on the development of a co-culture system combining the human placental barrier model with human embryonic stem cells to test the adverse effects of drugs and drug metabolites. Although the primary focus of these studies is on development of in vitro alternative testing methods, opportunities exist to collaborate with other scientists using genomics, in vitro toxicity, MPS platform, etc. The position is renewed annually for a period of 2 years, subject to change and renewal based on project needs and funding availability. The annual stipend will be ~ $64,500, with an additional $1,500 allocated for the purchase of health insurance, which is required for the position. There are no other benefits.


Requirements:
A Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Toxicology is preferred, with experience in cell culture, molecular biology techniques and imaging technique. Experience in stem cells and/or developmental toxicology is a plus. The successful candidate should be able to work independently, have good written and verbal communications skills, and work well with others.
